The Madrid metro or subway was inaugurated in 1919. The system is one of the biggest in Europe, counting 238 stations and 12 lines. The Madrid subway not only goes around the city; it also covers a big amount of peripheral cities and neighborhood. This incredible Madrid system is one of the fastest growing network in the world and the most used in Spain. In 2011, an abandoned platform was discovered in Chamberí Station. This section of the metro was close for years, but recently opened transformed into a museum called “ Anden 0 ”.
