The timple canario is an endemic instrument from the Canary Island in Spain. It is very similar to the Hawaiian ukulele. It is said that the best timples are elaborated by the city of Teguise masters, in Lanzarote. This musical instrument was originally Berber and it was brought by the African slaves to the islands. Its resonance box is elaborated with a local pumpkin. It has four or five strings depending on the version played. There are many timple players and they made several shows a year in the Canary Islands.
