• Lanzarote, a Biosphere Reserve

    Lanzarote, one of the seven Canary Islands, has been declare in 1993 the first Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO, together with Menorca. The people of the island has developed an extraordinary balance between the protection of the environment and the human activity. The beaches, volcanoes, cliffs and deserts in Lanzarote are the habitat of 2.500 insects which at least 25% of them are indigenous. There is impossible to describe Lanzarote in just a word, regarding the huge variety of landscapes within the island.
