To make Piedra en Seco Road by Sierra de Tramuntana in Mallorca is one of the best activities for those wanting to get away from the routine, surrounded by nature, and enjoy a stunning hikers pathway of Spain.
We are not talking about a simple tour; we are referring to a Cultural Landscape, a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. To walk and discover the oral heritage, legends, traditions, archaeological sites, unique buildings and spectacular cuisine… all that and much more is what awaits us in this corner of the Balearic Islands. The tour is of an astonishing diversity, connecting roads almost from sea level to up points as Coll de Ses Cases de sa Neu, one of the peaks of the Tramuntana over a thousand meters of altitude. Currently, the hiker hold almost 170 kilometers wide and marked, though, when the project is finished, will be almost 300 kilometers practicable, using a network of ancient roads rehabilitated.
Although there are sections accessible to all of us, the truth is that to address the full path, medium-high classified, you should be prepared physically, as we face walks stages of 7 and 8 hours, difficult terrain, with significant scree slopes and pretty rocky ground.
This is the best way to discover the contrasts of Mallorca and its spectacular mountain chain. And, of course, we must be prepared, bring the right stuff (hiking boots, protection against rain, sun and cold, enough water) and eager to walk.
