    Cueva del Indio

A trip to the spectacular interior of Cuba, in areas like the famous Valley of Viñales, we can enjoy another view of the island, away from the legendary Caribbean sailor landscape.

La Cueva del Indio, located in Pinar del Río, is one of the most interesting places for visitors to enjoy all the grandeur of Cuban nature and places.

About six kilometers from the town of Viñales, at Pinar del Rio, we will make a stunning journey on foot through the interior of one of the most beautiful caves of Cuban geology.

The walk through the small galleries of Cueva del Indio will takes us to the pier so we can see the rest of the cave aboard small boats through the underwater river that runs along the inside of the cave.

It’s time to get astonished by the spectacle of lights and shadows and the strange shapes due to the rare formations of stalactites and stalagmites. Also, we will approach a collection of tools and paintings of the Pre-Columbian era.

The entire atmosphere inside Cueva del Indio offers us a fairly close idea of the reality of the cultures and traditions of the past of the Caribbean island.

The cave has not been fully investigated and the route for tourists is just over a kilometer. If we go deeper, the security conditions are no longer optimal.

However, nobody is left indifferent after this trip to the origins of Cuban geology and the approach to the original Cuban culture.
