It is the Sóller railway, an old train that just turned its first centenary and that it has become one of the main attractions of an island that doesn’t lack any merit. Now, enjoy a ride in Majorca on an old early 20th century train… it’s just amazing.
Since 1912, this fantastic animal of iron made his daily tour and has not ever missed its appointment with the tracks. It covers a distance of almost 28 kilometers, linking Palma de Mallorca with the municipality of Sóller, northwest of the Balearic Island. Then, if you want to enjoy a little more of the experience, you can get aboard the tram which also, since 1913, has a strictly punctual itinerary. This tram maintains their journeys, joining in a little less than five kilometers the distance between the center of the village and the port of Sóller.
In these fantastic journeys “to the past” we can get a glimpse of the detailed and precious preserved machinery in a very rare type of train in these times.
A narrow gauge railway whose maintenance is done on a small scale and we offer a fun and exciting journey through 13 tunnels, bridges, viaducts and parts of devilish curves, which add excitement to our trip to the past.
One of the best days to tackle this adventure is on Saturdays, when the island people celebrate ‘el mercat‘ of vegetables, fruits, seafood, crafts… products that reach the market of Sóller from all points of the island.
